Latent heat of vaporization is the thermal energy required to change the substance from liquid to gas or from gas to liquid without any change in the temperature. Specific latent heat of vaporization is the thermal energy required to change 1kg of the substance from liquid to gas or gas to liquid without change in the temperature. Latent heat of fusion is the thermal energy required to change the state of the substance from solid to liquid and from liquid to solid without any change in temperature. Specific latent heat of fusion is the thermal energy required to change the temperature of 1kg of the substance from solid to liquid and liquid to solid without change in the temperature. Specific heat of vaporization is greater than the specific heat of fusion as it takes more energy to change 1kg of water to steam as compared to changing 1kg of ice to water. The molecules have to seperate more when steam is formed. Sublimation. Sublimation is the change of state from solid to gas, and from gas to solid. It's a TWO-WAY change of state. Big deal. Vapour to solid.
